Hike to Salisbury Lodge, Kahurangi National Park

SALISBURY LODGE, KAHURANGI NATIONAL PARK

This is a nice and gentle overnight hike! It takes approximately 4 hours to reach the hut from Flora car park. The walk itself isn’t to difficult, with well marked track and beautiful tussock fields. There are some awesome rock shelters along the way for you to explore or even spend the night, as well as easy access to different routes throughout the mighty Kahurangi.
I would also recommend putting this hut on your list for another great kid friendly option 😊
Getting there:
  • Less than an hour from Nelson
  • Park up at the DOC car park, Flora's car park
  • Toilets present at the car park
  • The access road to Flora's car park is prone to slips so check for road alerts before you go, and a 4WD would be recommended during winter, when snow and ice might be present
