FOSTERS HUT, RICHMOND RANGES
Along the Wakamarina Track you’ll find an old gold miners track in the Wairau Valley. This 4 person hut is 1150m in elevation in a valley that was once the scene of one of New Zealand’s richest gold rushes!
To access: Enter the Wakamarina Valley and follow upstream until you reach Butchers Flat. From there begin the 2 hour journey to Devils Creek Hut, then the steep 800m journey up Mount Royal. Sidle are the saddle on the other side and there you’ll find Fosters Hut 🛖
Here you can enjoy the stunning views of the Wairau Valley!
