LAKEHEAD HUT, NELSON LAKES NATIONAL PARK
If you are wanting to escape and delve into nature but want somewhere close, then this could be a great option for you! The Lakehead hut sits at the head of Lake Rotoiti in the Travers River Valley, in Nelson Lakes National Park.
It has 28 bunk beds and takes approximately 1-3 hours to reach through beautiful red beech forest.
While staying here there are options to explore the swing-bridge over the Travers River or even bring a rod and catch yourself a prize 🏆
