Each week, we highlight our fave tramping trails in New Zealand for day and multi day hikes across Nelson Tasman (and beyond!)
Lodestone Summit Track, Kahurangi National Park
You may have seen some snaps from our sweet sunrise mission up Lodestone this weekend with @aimeejulesphotography! A challenging 6.8km loop from Flora carpark heading clockwise up to 1462m.
A 4WD is recommended to get to Flora Car park (essential in winter with ice and snow) and get there early on a good day, as the car park can get full!
The trail has some steep, scrambly sections broken up by cruisy, meandering track through beautiful beech forest but is pretty sheltered.
The 360 degree views from the top are spectacular, from Mt Arthur’s north-eastern face all the way across to stunning Tasman Bay. There was still some patchy snow and ice on trail, but our Altra's crushed it!
Keep an eye out for the cheeky Kea 👀
