ROYS PEAK, WANAKA
I was lucky enough to adventure up this beautiful mountain last week. What a stunner! We even got surprise views after loads of cloud 🤩
Just a few kilometres out of Wanaka is this very popular spot for sunrise and sunset trips (next time!). The rather steep climb up to the top of the 1,578km beauty is achievable in 5-6 hours.
It’s definitely one to check off the list if you’re in the area ❤️
Things to note..
~Take warm clothes! Even on a warm sunny day the weather can turn bitterly cold.. don't take the fact that this is done by heaps of people lighlty. Be prepared (like always)
~The cloud cover can suddenly disappear as it did for us, the top was completely clear!
~Poles are very well used on this trip due to the elevation... up and down they made a huge difference the whole way
~Lather on the sunscreen in summer AND winter. The track is totally exposed with no tree cover.
